 Overview

Climate change is undeniably one of the most threatening and detrimental issues in the world as it has an array of serious consequences affecting the lives of many people around the globe.Lately the world has been witnessing a considerable increase in temperature.

The recently recorded temperature increase resulted in various issues affecting the environment significantly in various ways as they impact many aspects of life and present a huge challenge world wide.Drought is definitely one of the most prominent consequences of extreme heat waves for it contributes to water scarcity which is a serious threat to both fauna and flora.

Water shortage is the byproduct of drought and scorching heat waves in many regions of the world particularly in the Middle East. This is mainly attributed to many factors that lead to more serious water shortages as well as intense heat waves.Water scarcity is definitely a tough challenge and it is one of the most serious concerns in the region.

Water shortage : a growing concern in the Middle East

Water is definitely vital to our health. It plays a key role in food production and economic development. It is essential for our health and wellbeing as it supports our body’s functions such as carrying valuable nutrients to our homes and getting rid of toxins.

Recently water shortage has been a challenging issue around the world, affecting the lives of large numbers of people and presenting a serious threat to the environment.

Although water scarcity is a growing concern in the world as it is more prevalent in the Middle East region, since the 1970s the region has been witnessing considerable water shortages, impacting the region’s economic and social potential significantly.

Many factors led to the exacerbation of this issue such as, the arid dry nature of the region and the fact that rainfall is extremely rare which contributes to fewer freshwater sources. This situation forces people to seek external sources of water to fulfill their basic needs

Furthermore the huge rise in population puts an additional strain on already limited scarce water sources as agriculture requires a huge amount of water supply for crops. Climate change played a major role in the further deterioration of water supply in the region as ongoing heat waves led to more frequent droughts as well as an increased demand for water.

Water resources are rapidly shrinking and decreasing in the Middle East region, where many people struggle to gain access to clean safe water.Countries like Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

In order to address this issue many countries in the Middle East region resorted to the implementation of water conservation measures such as promoting the use of water efficient technologies and minimizing water loss thus contributing to more mindful water usage.

Bottomline

Addressing water scarcity issues requires the collaboration of numerous factors such as implementing new water technologies, regional cooperation and mindful usage. Also raising awareness about water scarcity issues plays a pivotal role in tackling this issue.
